Art and culture in Leipzig

winter term 2018-19

In the surrounding of Halle there is a lot to see. How about a day trip to Leipzig? We are happy to invite you this vivid city and to explore together its' art and cultural scene.

We start with a guided tour through a former cotton mill where you will get to know interesting facts not only about the mill’s history but also the numerous art galleries located there. The cotton mill, formerly the biggest of this kind in continental Europe, is now a place for contemporary art and culture.

After a warm lunch we move on to the City of Leipzig, more precisely: to one of Germany’s oldest museums of applied arts, the Grassi museum. There is a lot to explore!
Besides the permanent exhibition there are interesting temporary exhibitions. For example ‘’Together – the new architecture of the collective’’. This temporary exhibition deals with the problem of housing shortage and presents alternative ways of living, among others with examples of the City of Leipzig. Another temporary exhibition is also worth a look. The interactive space installation ,,360° Sinneslandschaft’’ was created by a professor of arts from the university of Halle. We first want to have a look at these exhibitions together before you will get free time to explore the museum a bit more on your own.

We are looking forward to an interesting day with you in Leipzig!

The participation fee of 9,00€ covers the travel expenses, the costs for the guided tour and lunch, as well as for the museum.
