Who will pay your pension some day?” Tips and tricks regarding your pensions in Europe

summer term 2018

Careers of scientists, researchers and employees in the University management are becoming more and more international. One important aspect of working abroad is the question, if and how accumulated pension rights can be transferred and how your pension can be collected at the time of retirement. The event addresses international mobile researchers and administrative staff who currently work at Halle University or a research institute in Halle and pay a monthly contribution towards the statutory social security system, the Deutsche Rentenversicherung (DRV). The aim is to provide adequate information on this multifaceted (and often confusing) topic and to answer questions such as:

• Do I qualify for a pension in Germany?
• What pension benefits can I expect?
• Will I still be entitled to collect a pension from Germany once I leave the country?
• If I do not qualify for a pension, can I have my contributions refunded?
• What do I need to do in order to collect my pension on retirement?
• Can I transfer my entitlements from Germany abroad?
• How can I transfer entitlements to Germany which I collected abroad?

Both presentations and Q&A will be in English.

Speakers:
Ms Aubery Merens, FindyourPension
Ms Delicia Hofmann, VBL
Mr Klaus Hörmann, Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bund (DRV)
