Together with you we would like to experience the beauty of the Saale and its riparian regions from a canoe. The first stage will take us from Halle along the Saale to the Café Saalekiez (located about halfway). There we can recharge our batteries to reach our destination Wettin. From Wettin a shuttle service will bring us back to Halle. In total, our canoe tour covers about 20 km. You do not need any previous experience in canoeing. We always paddle in pairs or threes in a canoe, so there is never anyone alone in a boat! Meeting point is 09:30 at the boat rental, we start around 10 am. The pure paddling time is about 4.5 - 5 hours. Arrival in Wettin: approx. 16 o'clock, arrival in Halle: approx. 17.30 o'clock. The event is sponsored by the DAAD. The participation fee of 10 € covers: - fully equipped 3-person canoes (paddle, life jacket , waterproof barrels for food and luggage) - Instruction in the technique of canoeing - routes and safety instructions - Transfer of people and canoes from Wettin to Halle The maximum number of participants is limited to 25 people. Please pay the participation fee directly after registration, otherwise your place may be given to a person on the waiting list. Please note that no meals or drinks are included in the participation fee. So please make sure to bring enough provisions and drinks. However, there will be the possibility to buy snacks and drinks at Café Saalekiez, and of course to have dinner at the summer party at Peißnitzhaus after returning to Halle from 18:00 (registration for the summer party is possible here: https://www.contactus.uni-halle.de/index.php?cmd=details&eid=194&lang=en) IMPORTANT: According to DAAD guidelines, both events can only take place if at least 20 foreign doctoral candidates/postdocs participate. If you know that you cannot appear on the day of the excursion, e.g. due to illness, despite registration and despite payment of the participation fee, you are obliged to inform us in advance in writing / by e-mail. We will then try to give your place to another person so that the excursion can still take place and the DAAD guidelines are adhered to. If the event cannot take place due to too few registrations or for other reasons, we will inform you immediately. ACCIDENT INSURANCE: Please note: The excursion is considered a private trip, i.e. participants are not insured by the university or the PhD Network during the excursion.
