summer term 2022
Dear doctoral candidates, Postdocs and partners, We would like to invite you on a journey to the historic city of Dessau, which is especially known for its fascinating Bauhaus architecture as well as breathtaking gardens. The Bauhaus homepage states: „Dessau is the city with which the Bauhaus is most strongly associated. It was here that the college, founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar in 1919, operated the longest and experienced its heyday between the years 1925 and 1932. All three Bauhaus directors, Walter Gropius, Hannes Meyer, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, left their mark on the Bauhaus in Dessau, and nearly all of the Bauhaus buildings that were created in Dessau are now considered icons of 20th century architecture.“ The excursion will take place on Saturday, April 23, from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. and will include a one-hour English-language guided tour of the famous Bauhaus building, lunch together, and a subsequent walk in the park.
