25th of January 2020: PhD Network Excursion to Buchenwald/Weimar

winter term 2019-20

On Saturday, the 25th of January 2020 we will visit the Buchenwald Memorial together, one of the largest former concentration camps on German soil between 1937 and 1945.
We will begin our visit to the memorial with a film in English on the history of Buchenwald Concentration Camp. Afterwards we take part in an approximately two-hour guided tour in English through the former camp. Please note that this excursion is unfortunately unsuitable for children.
Afterwards we will head together to nearby Weimar to have dinner in a restaurant and talk about the day.
Please remember to wear good shoes, as we will be walking a lot.
The participation fee of 12€ covers the travel expenses, the costs for the guided tour in the memorial and the dinner in Weimar (1 drink + 1 main course).
Meeting point: 09.30 a.m.
Location: Halle Central Station, in front of the DB Travel Centre
Return journey (estimated): 7.18p.m. from Weimar HbF
Arrival in Halle (probably): 08.35 p.m.

In the week in which the excursion takes place, we will send an e-mail with further details.
IMPORTANT: According to DAAD guidelines, this excursion can only take place if at least 20 foreigners personally participate in the excursion on the 25th of January 2020. We ask that you only register if you really want to participate in the excursion and that you pay the participation fee into the account mentioned in Contactus as a sign of your binding participation. As experience has shown that it can take a while until the amount is received on our account, we ask you to send us a proof of payment by e-mail as a precaution. If you pay and do not show up on the day of the excursion, we unfortunately have to consider you as a non-participant. If you notice that you cannot appear on the day of the excursion, e.g. due to illness, despite registration and payment of the participation fee, you are obliged to inform us in advance in writing / by e-mail. We will then try to assign your place to another person so that the excursion can still take place and the DAAD guidelines are observed. Should the event not be able to take place due to insufficient registration numbers or for other reasons, we will inform you immediately.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE: Please note: The excursion is considered a private trip, i.e. participants are not insured by the university or the PhD Network during the excursion.
