winter term 2018-19
Welcome to Germany's capital Berlin! On Saturday, 01.12.2018 we are happy to invite you to explore Berlin together. We start off with a guided walking tour (in English) at the Brandenburg Gate – probably Berlin's most famous landmark – and learn why the monument is regarded today as a symbol of reunited Germany. We then continue to the places where politics is made: we explore the government district, get to know the Reichstag building and learn more about the legislature in Germany. After this walk, we enjoy a warm lunch together. In the afternoon we stroll through one of the most beautiful Christmas markets of the city. Here you can not only discover beautiful craftsmanship, but also all kinds of culinary delights. If you like, you can rent ice skates and do a few laps on the ice. We are looking forward to an unforgettable day with you! Since it can get cold in December, we recommend warm clothes and comfortable shoes. The participation fee of 15,00 € covers the travel expenses, the costs for the city tour and lunch, as well as the rental of ice skates at the Christmas market. Meeting point: Halle (Saale) Central Station at 07:30 a.m. Return: 19:15 p.m. from Berlin Central Station Arrival: 22:09 p.m. in Halle (Saale) Central Station In the week in which the excursion takes place, we will send an e-mail with further details. IMPORTANT: According to DAAD guidelines the excursion can only take place if at least 20 foreigners participate personally on 01.12.2018. Please, only register if you really want to participate and transfer the fee to the bank account mentioned in Contactus. Since it can take some time until we receive the money on our account, we kindly ask you to send us a payment document via e-mail. If you pay and do not show up on the day of the excursion, we will consider this as non-attendance. If you get ill or cannot take part for other reasons, you are obligated to inform us by e-mail. In that case, we will try to give your place to someone else in order to guarantee the taking place of the excursion and to meet the DAAD guidelines. If the excursion cannot take place due to a small number of registrations, we will inform you immediately. ACCIDENT INSURANCE: Please note that this counts as a private trip. You are not insured via the university or the PhD Network during the trip. We are looking forward to numerous participants. Sincerely, Your PhD Network Team One last note: If you register and end up on the waiting list, please don't transfer the fee yet. We will inform you when you can get a place.
