Let’s take a proper look at Jena!

Our (partly guided) tour of the university town of Jena will take in some Romantic sights and then zoom in on the history of Jena as a centre of the optics industry. Goethe and Schiller came to Jena a lot, and Carl Zeiss set up his workshop and developed his research on microscopes and optical glass here.

We will start by taking a stroll around the city and then having lunch together. The guided tour in English starts off after lunch and takes us into the Optical Museum, after which you are free to return to Halle or stay awhile.

Your participation fee of 11,00 € will cover the train fare, lunch, the guided tour and entry to the museum.

Meeting Point: Halle (Saale) Hauptbahnhof at 8.50 am sharp

Return: leaving Jena at approx. 5.45 pm, arriving at Halle (Saale) Hauptbahnhof around 6.50 pm

You will receive an email with more details in the week of the excursion

IMPORTANT: According to DAAD guidelines the excursion can only take place if at least 20 foreigners participate personally on 21 April 2018. Please, only register if you really want to participate and transfer the fee immediately to the bank account mentioned in Contactus until 15 April 2018. Since it can take some time until we receive the money on our account, we kindly ask you to send us a payment document via e-mail. If you pay and do not show up on the day of the excursion, we will consider this as non-attendance. If you get ill or cannot take part for other reasons, you are obligated to inform us by e-mail. In that case, we will try to give your place to someone else in order to guarantee the taking place of the excursion and to meet the DAAD guidelines. If the excursion cannot take place due to a small number of registrations, we will inform you immediately.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE: Please note that this counts as a private trip. You are not insured via the university or the PhD Network during the trip.
