MZ Newspaper and Dieskau Castle

Dear Doctoral Candidates, Postdocs and partners,

We would like to invite you to the next excursion organised by the PhD Network on Friday, April 21, 2017!

In the morning, we are going to visit the “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung”, the main newspaper in Halle. There, we will have an introduction to the workings of a German newspaper, a tour through the printing plant, and a visit to the editorial works.

After our lunch at a cosy restaurant we will hop on the bus for a short ride to Dieskau. This little village just outside of Halle offers quite a charming surprise: Dieskau Castle and its enchanted park area. The castle was built around 1600 as a three-story Renaissance complex, the park was created around 1780 and used the Wörlitzer Park as a model.
(The tours will be held partially in German with English translation)

What you need to know:
• Date: Friday, April 21, 2017
• Meeting point: 9.30 a.m. in front of the entrance of Mitteldeutsche Zeitung (Delitzscher Str. 65, 06112 Halle (Saale), Tram number 7, Stop: Fiete-Schulze-Straße, three stops after Halle Train Station).
If you are insecure about getting there by yourself, please contact us via mail and we’ll try to find individual meeting points
• End: Around 6.30 p.m. at Halle Hauptbahnhof/ZOB (Main Train station/ Central Bus station)
• Participation fee: This excursion is financed by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office. That is why we can offer you the trip for the exceptional price of 8 € per person (incl. guided tour, lunch & public transport for those who don’t have a student ID resp. monthly ticket).

IMPORTANT: According to DAAD guidelines the excursion can only take place if at least 20 foreigners participate personally on April 21, 2017. So, we hope for at least 20 registrations/participations. Please, only register if you really want to participate and transfer the fee immediately to our bank account not later than April 09, 2017. If you pay and do not show up on the day of the excursion, we will consider this as non-attendance. If despite registration and transfer of the participation fee,. e.g. you get ill or cannot take part for other reasons, you are obligated to inform us in written form / per e-mail. In that case, we will try to give your place to someone else in order to guarantee the taking place of the excursion and to meet the DAAD guidelines.

One week before the excursion, all participants will get an e-mail whether or not it is going to take place. We will also send you more detailed information then.
