winter term 2016-17

Dear Doctoral Candidates and Postdocs,

We wish you all the best for 2017 and would like to invite you to the next excursion organised by the PhD Network on Saturday, January 28, 2017! This time, instead of going to another place we will stay here and discover our beautiful University town. Whether insider or newcomer – there is something for everyone! We will meet at the ‘Hausmannstürme’ (Hausmann Towers) on the market place where our guide Mr Kreß will pick us up for a city walk. He is a real Halle expert and knows about things you cannot find in any guidebook. After our lunch at a cosy restaurant in the city centre we will take the tram to the well-known Halloren chocolate factory in the east of Halle. There, we will learn more about the history and production of those little sweet balls you cannot walk away from in Halle. So, don’t eat too much at lunch and leave some space for chocolate ;) (Both guided tours will be in English.)

What you need to know:
• Date: Saturday, January 28, 2017
• Meeting point: ‘Hausmannstürme’ (Hausmann Towers) on the market place, 9.45 a.m.
• End: Around 4.15 p.m. at the Halloren chocolate factory
• Participation fee: This excursion is financed by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office. That is why we can offer you the trip for the exceptional price of 8 € per person (incl. guided tour, lunch & public transport for those who don’t have a student ID resp. monthly ticket).

IMPORTANT: According to DAAD guidelines the excursion can only take place if at least 20 foreigners participate personally on January 28, 2017. So, we hope for at least 20 registrations/participations. Please, only register if you really want to participate and transfer the fee immediately to our bank account not later than January 19, 2017. If you pay and do not show up on the day of the excursion, we will consider this as non-attendance. If despite registration and transfer of the participation fee,. e.g. you get ill or cannot take part for other reasons, you are obligated to inform us in written form / per e-mail. In that case, we will try to give your place to someone else in order to guarantee the taking place of the excursion and to meet the DAAD guidelines.

One week before the excursion, all participants will get an e-mail whether or not it is going to take place. We will also send you more detailed information then.
