24th November 2024: Trip to the Leizig Panometer

winter term 2024-25

Dear PhD students and PostDocs of MLU,

We would like to invite you on an excursion to the Panometer Leipzig. This is a visual panorama (105 metres in circumference and around 30 metres in height) in a former gasometer, which is accompanied by a thematic exhibition in German and English. The Panometer was created in 2003 by the Austrian-born artist Yadegar Asisi, who invented the name as a portmanteau of ‘Panorama’ and ‘Gasometer’.

The current exhibition theme is ‘The Cathedral of Monet - Freedom in Painting’ and takes you back in time to the small French town of Rouen at the end of the 19th century. The themed exhibition in front of the panorama painting focuses on the French artist Claude Monet and the Impressionist style.The link below will give you a closer impression.

The excursion will take place on Sunday, 24 November, from 1 - 5 pm and includes a joint visit to the Leipzig Panometer.

Here are the most important programme points:
- Joint arrival and departure by train (also possible individually, if desired)
- Joint visit to the Panometer Leipzig (‘The Cathedral of Monet - Freedom in Painting’)

Date: Sunday, 24th November 2024

Meeting point: Halle (Saale) main station in front of the arrivals and departures board, 1 pm

Departure: 1:15 pm, platform 10 E-G with the S 5X

Participation fee: 4 €, to be paid in cash (please bring the exact amount in cash!) on the day of the excursion

Note: The participation fee of 4 € only covers the entrance fee to the Panometer Leipzig. The price of the train journey will be paid by the participants themselves. (Cheapest option for those who do not have a Deutschland-Ticket: MDV-Hopperticket return journey, €12.50, bookable at the DB ticket machine, via the MOOVME app or the DB Navigator app)

ACCIDENT INSURANCE: Please note: The excursion is considered a private trip, i.e. participants are not insured by the university or the PhD Network during the excursion.
