Welcome Seminar, Part 1: "International PhD-Meeting 2018"

Dear international PhD students,

We’d like to invite you to this year’s Welcome Meeting “International PhD-Meeting 2018” on October 12, 2018. This meeting will be held in connection with the workshop “Team Communication” which will take place a week later on October 19. Each part can be attended independently, so you can visit only one of the parts. If you wish to participate in both, please register for both events individually.

- Date: Friday, October 12, 2018, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
- Topic: “International PhD-Meeting 2018”
- Venue: Von-Seckendorff-Platz 1, room 5.09, Campus Heide Süd, Halle (Saale)
- The event is free of charge.
- Please mention in the comments section whether you are at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of your thesis.

The event aims at greeting newcomers, giving information about first steps at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and in the city of Halle and at introducing consultation and support services at the university.
Doctoral Candidate who are in the middle of their doctorate or who are about to finish their dissertation will be given information on the admission to and the process of the doctoral procedure at the respective faculty.
Also, there will be room for the participants to ask questions and to get in contact with each other about topics relevant to their PhD.

Programme:
Start: 09.15 am
- Introduction by the International Office and the International Graduate Academy (InGrA)
- Welcome Speech by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Paul, Vice President for Research
- Welcome by Dr. Gerda Patze on behalf of the city of Halle, team leader science and digitalization
- Presentation about the support services of the InGrA, Dr. Dr. Klaus-Peter Meinicke
- Presentation about the support services of the International Office & PhD Network, Esther Smykalla
- Networking activity
- Group work
- Q & A (Questions and Answers), especially to Dr. Maihöfner, human resources department (Ref. 3.2, human resources development, specifically further education possibilities) and to Andrea Ritschel, family office
- Quick lunch
End: 1 pm

If you have a topic that should be adressed or general questions, please don't hesitate to contact us!

IMPORTANT: Please only register if you really want to participate in the seminar. In the unlikely case that you registered and then have to decline, please cancel your registration at the latest until October 08, 2018 by sending an e-mail to phd.network@international.uni-halle.de, so that someone else get your place. Please note that this seminar, will only take place if we reach the number of minimum 10 international doctoral candidates. If you bail out at short-notice, this will compromise the realization of the excursion. Two weeks before the seminar, all participants will get a reminder.
